LAMPSHADE
Prototype design and production: Laser-cut polypropylene lampshade, designed for easy assembly and versatility.
In 2019, I designed and produced a prototype for a polypropylene lampshade as part of a course project. The result is a lightweight, modern, and easily assembled shade that fits well in a variety of interior styles. Its two color options, black and white, make it timeless and versatile, while clear assembly instructions and a tutorial video ensure that the user can put it together easily without special tools.
The lampshade was made from a flat polypropylene sheet cut with a laser cutter. Using Illustrator, I designed how the parts would be cut from the sheet as efficiently as possible. Through this project, I learned the basics of working with a laser cutter and the design considerations related to both the material and the cutting technique.
Polypropylene was chosen as the material because it is lightweight, durable, and easy to clean, making the product long-lasting and practical in everyday use.
